Homemade Bread Bowls

Yield: 4-6 bowls

These bread bowls are awesome for soups, stews, chili, or dips. Its a no waste agenda because you dont have to hollow out a full round loaf to make the bowl.

  • 4 cups flour (have more for dusting)
  • 1 1/3 cups hot water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 2 tablespoon oil

Oven to 450 degrees F

Add hot water to small bowl.

Sprinkle yeast over water and let stand 5 minutes.

Stir in sugar, salt and oil.

Place flour in large mixing bowl, add yeast water all at once, stirring until combined. It may be a bit dry at first.

Tip the dough onto kneading surface, and knead 10 minutes.

Cut dough into 4-6 equal pieces.

Roll each piece out into a 1/2 inch round disk.

Grease 4-6 stainless steel bowls on the back side.

Place each disk on a steel, glass or ceramic bowl. (I actually used ceramic ice cream bowls lol)

Bake 12 -15 minutes or until bowls are golden brown.

Remove from bowls and serve hot or cold!
