This is one of the pizzas I make for my vegetarian. Garlic white sauce topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and broccoli. The homemade crust is perfect deep dish pizza crust and also makes great bread sticks.
It does contain dairy products and the "meat" on top is soy...not meat!
- 1 batch of Garlic White Sauce (below)
- 1 Batch of Dough (below)
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Fresh broccoli
- meatless soy crumbles (its like ground beef but its all veggie)
Follow directions below for the sauce and dough.
Dress pizza as you wish!
Garlic White Sauce:
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1/8 cup AP flour
1 T. Minced Garlic
Salt and cracked pepper to taste
In a sauce pan, on medium heat, melt butter with garlic
when butter is melted, gradually add flour, stirring constantly while it thickens.
Add more or less milk according to the consistency you desire.
Add salt and pepper.
Let cool a bit before putting on the pizza dough.
4 cups flour (have more for dusting)
1 1/3 cups hot water
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
2 tablespoon oil
Oven to 475 degrees F
Add hot water to small bowl.
Sprinkle yeast over water and let stand 5 minutes.
Stir in sugar, salt and oil.
Place flour in large mixing bowl, add yeast water all at once, stirring until combined. It may be a bit dry at first.
Tip the dough onto kneading surface, and knead 10 minutes.
Rise once in pans 1 – 2 hrs.
